Hello, Muse Flashers! It’s been a minute, hasn’t it?
Life has a way of throwing curveballs when you least expect them. For me, it’s been six long weeks of redundancy consultations, followed by a whirlwind redeployment into a role that seems to eat time for breakfast. To say it’s been a rollercoaster would be putting it mildly.
But here’s the good news: Hazel and I have officially emerged from the chaos. We’re a little dishevelled and probably running on one too many cups of tea, but we’re here. And more importantly, we’re ready to plan our next steps with you, our fabulous Muse Flashers.
Reflecting on The Squad and the Muse Flash journey so far
Earlier this year, we launched The Squad, our first-ever membership programme. It was an absolute blast and a huge learning experience. It showed us exactly what works for you, what doesn’t, and how we can make Muse Flash even better going forward.
At first, our plans for 2025 involved creating something shiny and new. After all, next year marks ten years of Muse Flash. (Can you believe it?!) But then, in the middle of our brainstorming, we had a collective lightbulb moment.
Why not lean into that gloriously weird festive limbo season freelancers know so well? You know the one—the stretch between early December and late January when work slows to a crawl but life speeds up, and the stars align for reflecting on the year gone by and dreaming big for the year ahead.
Enter… Finishing Strong
Let us introduce Finishing Strong. It’s a chance to wrap up the year on a high and set the tone for 2025. Running across December and January (though we’re flexible if you’d like to start earlier or a bit later), it’s designed to help you reflect deeply on 2024 while laying bold, brilliant plans for what’s next for your freelance writing career.
This isn’t just for honing your pitching skills as a freelance journalist. If you’ve diversified—whether you’re looking to focus on writing a book, offering PR services, or building up another aspect of your creative business—Finishing Strong can help you prioritise, strategise, and start the new year with clarity. We’ll work with you to tackle the unique challenges of your goals and develop an actionable plan that fits your vision.
This isn’t a huge group programme—it’s intentionally small, with just three students per cohort. That means loads of personal 1:1 time with us to dig deep and make the magic happen.
